Chamber Music Summer School
Our Chamber Music Summer School will run from the 8th until the 11th of August 2019.
A small, friendly and relaxed course for adult amateur string players of any level. A maximum of 16 participants play alongside our excellent tutors in quartets, trios, & quintets. During the course you work intensively on a piece with the option to perform it informally on the final morning of our chamber music summer school. The course ends with a big come and play day exploring some pieces for string orchestra.
Some course testimonials:
The location was beautiful, a perfect setting for music making. Our tutor Fran was great – full of encouragement, enthusiasm and useful tips for improvement. Jemma’s home cooked food was delicious. I’m looking forward to coming again next year.

What luxury to be able to play wonderful chamber music in beautiful surroundings and to be sustained by delicious meals at regular intervals. Jemma and Daniel have created a delightful venue for music making at Nantwen, and our playing was guided and encouraged by experienced tutors.
Although I could ‘hardly hold the bow ‘ I was made to feel most welcome and
thoroughly enjoyed being part of the orchestra . Daniel provided music, Fran
provided encouragement and my thanks go to the very helpful student on my
left who provided pointers as to where we were on the score ! Would I do it
again ? Oh YES !!! Lynette Come and Play Day 2018
I can’t think of a better way for a chamber musician to spend a few days in Wales or anywhere than going to Nantwen. Daniel and the tutors/coaches do a fantastic job selecting music, making the workshop welcoming and friendly to musicians of all levels, and working with the groups. The combination of ensemble time, group play, and free time is well balanced, giving each person (and group) time and space to learn and grow. I’ve gone three times and can’t wait to go again – it’s the highlight of my summer. Kalpana 2016, 2017, 2018
It was an absolute pleasure being on the course this year and thanks for including me at relatively short notice, and for your wonderful hospitality and cooking. I loved the interesting mix of people on the course, from all walks of life, keen amateurs to professional musicians, and the encouraging and friendly atmosphere created by the tutors, all set in beautiful countryside and with Jemma’s home cooking. Patricia was a great tutor, and it was a privilege to have her as part of our sextet. The OAE concert was extremely special, and inspiring.
The essence of the chamber music summer school is to play music in a relaxed and informal setting and with lovely people, great food and great music.
